Autumn is Richer Than Fall

Autumn is Richer Than Fall

Summer is a innocent child
who laughs and plays
eats ice cream, hot dogs, and watermelon outside
all day long
and dances well into the night
before a mother puts them to bed

But Autumn is richer than the fall between the seasons

Autumn is a teenager
a leggy beautiful mischievous teenage girl
who politely creeps in on you and introduces herself
who has a glint in her eyes
and a smirk in her smile
a beautiful teenage girl who is wandering in an adult/child world
who keeps secrets for the sake of them

And Autumn is richer than the fall between the seasons

Spring is a mother
who is soft and beautiful
who sweeps you up in a hug
that crushes the worry from your bones
who roars like a dragon when someone
threatens her child

But Autumn is richer than the fall between the seasons

Winter is a Father
who is warm and cold
who tells stories and memories
and has a laugh that’s deep and echos
Winter knows how to sit and observe the night
and can show you how beautiful the quiet really is
but still pics you up and twirls you with excitement
when something wonderful happens.

But Autumn is richer than the fall between the seasons

Autumn is dark, darker than all the seasons
and she’s cold, colder than Winter
but she’s beautiful
and she can remind you of a child
who will laugh and jump in leaves
but she’s an adult with sad eyes of an old soul
Autumn sweeps you up and grips your hands with her cold ones
kisses your cheeks until their rosy red
and leaves you in stunned silence
